Why a Small Pool is Still Awesome

When you make the decision to buy a pool, your first instinct might be to get the biggest one you can afford. And, while that works out well for some people, others find that they actually prefer having a smaller pool. In fact, it may surprise you to learn that, for many, bigger isn’t always better. As others have discovered, a small pool can actually be the best choice in a lot of ways!

It’s Ideal for a Smaller Yard

First things first, a small pool is ideal if you have a small yard. You don’t want a pool that overtakes your entire backyard and gives you no space for things like letting the dog run or allowing the kids to play. You also don’t want your backyard to suddenly appear cramped and overcrowded, which can be a huge turnoff if you ever decide to sell.

If your yard isn’t all that big, don’t force a giant pool into it. You’re likely to be more comfortable and to enjoy your pool more if you get a smaller one that fits reasonably into your outdoor space, without overpowering it.

It’s Cheaper

A smaller pool means less materials are used to build it. That, in turn, means a lower upfront price, thereby saving you money. Smaller pools don’t just save upfront either. They also use fewer chemicals than larger pols and don’t take as long to clean. This means you end up spending less on maintenance products and that you can easily clean the pool yourself or hire someone to do it at a fraction of the cost of a larger pool.

It’s Safer

Smaller pools also have the advantage of potentially being safer for children. For one thing, they’re often not as deep, which reduces the likelihood of drowning, though children should still be attended at all times in any size pool.

However, keeping your eyes on a smaller pool is easier than trying to scan a large pool quickly. With a smaller swimming space, you’ll find that it’s easier to see where everyone is in the pool and what they’re doing at all times.

As you can see, you don’t need a massive swimming pool to enjoy your investment and have a great time. So, if a smaller pool ultimately works out better for you, don’t feel bad or be envious of larger pools. Just appreciate what you have and the unique and surprising benefits offered by a smaller swimming pool.
