Pool Accessories You Can Afford

Installing a swimming pool is a big expense in and of itself. And, when you start adding in accessories and extras, it can get even more costly. Know, however, that not all pool accessories cost an arm and a leg. If you’re smart about the ones you choose, you can actually get a great pool, one that’s fully decked-out, without having to spend a small fortune.

Consider Cascades

Want to make your pool look like an exotic oasis without paying the big bucks? If so, consider installing a cascade feature. These will give you a cute little waterfall effect without the huge expense of an actual waterfall. You just need a retaining wall or other structure to house it. And, if you’re unsure about where to put the cascade, don’t worry. Your pool company can help you to find the perfect placement and may even install the cascade for you.

Jump for Jets

Ready to get a “water massage” whenever you feel like it? If so, consider having jets installed into your pool. They cost only a few hundred dollars each, in most cases, and you can install as many as you want and place them where you want.

However, it’s nearly impossible to install jets after the fact. So, if you know you want them, try and get them put in at the same time you get your pool.

Automatic Cleaners

If you can’t commit to vacuuming your pool each day, then consider investing in an automatic vacuum. There are a wide variety of these modern cleaners available, allowing you to pick the one that works best for you and your budget. Choose from robotic cleaners, suction cleaners, pressure cleaners, and more.

Believe it or not, these are just a few of many affordable pool extras. Why not make your life easier by choosing one, two, or more for your pool? Just keep in mind whether the item is something you need to buy or install upfront or if it can wait until later. That way, you can prioritize when you get certain items and give yourself time to save up for the others.

Where to Buy Swimming Pool Products

Once you’ve installed a pool, you’re not done making purchases for that pool.

In fact, unless you’re hiring a swimming pool service to handle all the care and upkeep of your pool, you’re going to be buying chemicals and pool supplies for many years to come.

That’s not a bad thing. It’s just part of the responsibility of being a swimming pool owner. But, where should you buy your pool supplies? The best answer is through a specialty pool store or, even better yet, from the company that sold you the pool!

You Want People Who Know Pools

First things first, you don’t want to just guess about what chemicals or supplies you need. That could cause serious problems for your pool. And, while you could do research online, you’ll likely get much better results by following the advice of swimming pool experts.

Typically, these are the people who sell pools and/or who own specialty shops related to pools and pool supplies.

If the company who sold you your pool also sells supplies, definitely go with them as your first choice. After all, they don’t just know pools. They know your exact pool and its needs.

If you can’t do that, ask your pool seller for recommendations on who to go to for supplies and advice. It can make a world of difference!

Avoid the Big Box Stores

You may be wondering: “Why can’t I just go to Wal-Mart or some other ‘big box’ store for my pool supplies?”

You could do that. And, you might be tempted to since these stores are often quite cheap.

However, you’ll get nothing in the way of advice, at least not knowledgeable advice, from these types of retailers. Plus, the chemicals and products they sell are often of a lower-quality than what you’d find at a specialty store. Do you really want to “go cheap” or take chances with your pool?

Remember, your pool is a big investment, one that you want to last for many years to come. As such, take pride in your pool and settle for nothing but the best, even if that means spending a little bit more at the specialty stores. In the end, your pool will thank you for it.

A Swim a Day Keeps the Doctor Away: The Amazing Health Benefits of Swimming

If you’ve been thinking about adding a swimming pool to your home, why not do it? While it might seem like a frivolous purchase, it can actually be incredibly good for your health, especially if you commit to swimming daily. Regular swimming can have a host of health benefits that make adding a pool worthwhile.

Get Fit with Low Impact

Swimming is one of the world’s most perfect exercises. It raises your heart rate, which helps you to burn calories and fat. At the same time, though, swimming has virtually no impact, meaning there’s no strain on your joints and limbs. If you want a way to get fit without putting undue stress on your body or if you have limitations that make other forms of exercise too difficult, swimming is the perfect solution. And, you can make committing to regular swimming easier than ever when you have your own pool.

Work Different Muscle Groups

People often think that swimming only impacts the arms and legs. However, nothing could be further from the truth. Swimming involves your whole body, which enables you to tone and tighten each part. Plus, there are so many different strokes and moves you can do that you can easily target all of your muscle groups, allowing you to build lean muscle and burn fat more easily.

Relaxation

One final thing to appreciate about swimming is that, even when you’re going at it hard, it is still incredibly relaxing and peaceful. There’s just something soothing about being in the water. When your exercise doubles as relaxation, you’re more likely to be motivated to do it, which means you’ll have an easier time sticking to your workout routine. Plus, relaxation time can help to reduce stress and the risk of heart disease and other conditions as well.

In all of these ways, regular swimming can be incredibly beneficial to your overall health and well-being. So, if you were looking for a good reason to put in a pool, there you have it! A pool can impact your life and your health for the better in so many ways. And what could be a smarter investment than that?
