When you purchased a swimming pool, you
probably dreamed of yourself cooling down on a hot summer’s day. You probably
never imagined that your pool water could actually get too hot for comfort.
Unfortunately, however, this can be a real problem in very hot areas and/or when pools do not have the appropriate shade. The good news, though, is that you do have many options to cool your pool down.
Install
a Fountain
One option you have is to install a fountain
or a waterfall feature. These features can be very attractive and can also
greatly reduce the temperature of your pool water, making them a real win-win.
As these features run, they cause evaporation,
slowly but surely making your water cooler. Of course, this does mean that your
pool water runs out more quickly, which is why it’s often best to run these
features at night, when you’re not also fighting off the sun.
Refill
with Well Water
Do you have access to a well? If so, you might
consider partially draining your pool and filling it with well water.
Well water, because of being located lower,
tends to be much cooler than surface water. So, if you have access to this
option, definitely take advantage of it to make for a cooler pool.
Get a
Reversible Pump
Did you know that some pumps can both cool and
heat your water? It’s often as simple as changing one setting or even flipping
a switch!
A reversible pump that can cool down pool
water is a great option for guaranteed cooling, though it can be a bit on the
pricey side.
