Some people swim for fun and enjoyment. Then, you have those
who swim for a more serious reason: to get in their daily exercise.
If you’re in this second category, and you want a pool of
your own, you may be more inclined to go with a lap pool. And, if you do choose
this option, you have lots of different types of lap pools to choose from.
Go Traditional
If you’ve got plenty of space and like to do things “by the
book,” then a standard, traditional lap pool is probably what you want. These
pools are inground pools that need to be at least 40’long, 10’ wide, and about
4’ deep throughout.
That’s pretty large, and these pools can get expensive. If
you’re up to the challenge, though, and it’s really what you want, then why not
go for it?
Add On to Your Current Pool
Do you already have a pool- even a small one- but want it to
function like a lap pool? Well, you’re in luck!
Now, there are tether systems that can be added to and used
with just about any type of pool out there. These systems use a band to help
the swimmer swim against their own resistance, creating a better workout that
can be done in any body of water. Even better yet, these systems are usually
quite affordable too!
Opt for an Endless Pool
If you want a lap pool that’s strictly for swimming laps and
doesn’t take up a ton of space, opt for a smaller, so-called “endless pool.”
These pools are designed to allow you to swim in place. They’re not very big as
a result, but they do feature jets that create a current for you to swim
against, resulting in an awesome, effective workout.
As you can see, all kinds of lap pools exist. The key is
just to find what works best for you and your preferences and then to go for
it!
