Often times, when people add pools to their homes, they also
want to add in all kinds of fun extras. And, while that’s great, remember that
every “extra” takes up space. As such, you’ll need to build your pool area or
patio to accommodate your add-ons or be willing to expand your pool area as
needed. No matter where you are in the planning stages, though, having an idea
of the average amount of space different features take up can be helpful.
Pool Steps
Pools steps are a very basic, no-frills addition to any
pool, yet they still take up space.
Generally, you’ll need at least six feet of space from the
base of your steps to the water’s edge. This will provide you with plenty of
room for the pool steps themselves and for people to use and maneuver around
them as well.
Outdoor Showers
An outdoor shower area can really help with keeping your
pool cleaner. It’s also nice when you need to wash the chlorine from your hair
quickly and get on with your day!
Even better yet, this feature doesn’t have to take up a lot
of room. The most basic showers can be installed in a 5’ by 5’ space. But, you
can always go bigger and fancier if you’d like, providing you’ve got the room
for it.
Slides
Every kid (and kid at heart) dreams of having a pool with a
slide.
And, while pool slides come in all types, styles, sizes, and
varieties, the smallest ones will require you to have around 7’ by 15’ feet
free near the pool.
However, you’ll probably want to look at different slide
options and their size requirements first since the most alluring slides often
require a lot more room this this minimum.
Ultimately, nothing beats having the exact features you want
for your pool. However, always plan with size requirements in mind. That way,
you can keep your dreams more on the realistic side or, at least, plan properly
to bring them to life.
