Getting a Handle on Pool Handrails

Your pool plan is almost complete. As you put the finishing touches on the blueprints, the installation and placement of your pool handrails can be an afterthought; however, adequately placed railings can ensure the guest of all ages can enjoy your pool!

Handrails for getting in and out of the pool, seem like a relatively customary accessory to install.  During your pool construction, what looks like a routine process can leave you treading water if not correctly placed and anchored.   You’d be amazed how often contractors want to install rails at the center of your pool steps.  While this may seem ideal aesthetically, it decreases safety and function.  Placing the handrail off-center allows you to exit the pool up the middle of the steps while grabbing the railing with your outside hand.  This is the perfect spot.  Any individual would benefit from having a sturdy anchor to lean on when entering or exiting a pool!

When choosing a material for your handrails, stainless steel is a sound choice.  Resisting corrosion in even the most acidic, chlorine-bearing environments is what stainless steel does best.   The bright and shining surface is attractive and easy to maintain, even in the strictest hygienic conditions.  To clean up, you can use any glass cleaner and cloth.  Don't use steel wool to remove tight spots; instead, occasionally apply a Scotchbrite pad and a nonabrasive commercial cleaner.

Don't get stranded in your pool.  Install stainless steel pool handrails that offer longevity, durability, and easy maintenance for safety and enjoyment for years to come.
