Fiberglass Pools vs. Vinyl Liner Pools

It's a question as old as time; Which is better a fiberglasspool or pools with vinyl liners?  There are many things to consider, and ultimately, you'll have to decide.  Here are some factors to consider.

Vinyl lined pools will be the lowest initial install price, while fiberglass will run you typically $4k-9k more.  The vinyl pool liner will have to be replaced, and depending on the quality of the liner and pool usage, you may change it four times in 20 years.  The cost of a new liner is around $4,000.  On the other hand, fiberglass offers longevity and low maintenance upkeep in terms of chemicals as well as repairs.   The soft non-porous vinyl liner does make for smooth swimming for your feet and requires less chemical usage, which provides cost savings! For customers who prefer size and shape options, vinyl can be customized into any shape and size, whereas fiberglass is limited in both ways.  Fiberglass doesn't typically go any deeper than 8' and is no wider than '16.  While you may be limited in size and shape, the aesthetics have significantly improved, and fiberglass can vary in color with fancy mold innovations, and cantilevered concrete! For resale, fiberglass seems to be the preferred option given its durability, longevity, and low maintenance.

Those are just a few things to consider when deciding between a fiberglass pool or vinyl liner pools.  It all comes down to your personal preference and what benefits you value most!
