Some people don’t care what their pool looks like. They just
want a cool, relaxing place to splash around. Others, however, want their pool
to look as elegant and attractive as possible, considering the pool to be a
reflection on themselves and their property.
If you fall into this second category and are thinking about
installing a fiberglass pool, you may have been warned that these pools look
“cheap.” While whether or not something looks cheap is a matter of opinion,
fiberglass pools shouldn’t automatically look cheaper than any other type of
pool.
And, while it is true that early fiberglass pools may have
been simplistic, causing some people to think of them as looking cheap, modern
fiberglass pools can look every bit as sophisticated as you want.
If you want to ensure your pool, fiberglass or otherwise,
looks as upscale as possible, just keep a few tips in mind.
Avoid Dull Colors
A lot of the time, when people think a pool looks cheap, they
really just find it boring and blah, causing them to perceive it as cheap
looking.
To banish this view, avoid dull, flat colors for your pool.
Go with a rich, sparkling blue or even a deep green or rich purple. This will
give a regal air to your pool and make it look customized and sophisticated- a
far cry from cheap!
Avoid Exposed Edges
Sometimes, pool builders will leave the top edges of the
pool exposed and simply pour concrete all around, leaving a very distinct and
visible view of where pool and ground meet.
This look is not attractive or distinguished, so you’re much
better off asking for a seamless surround-style design that doesn’t leave
exposed edges and makes your pool appear flowing and beautiful.
Avoid Cheap Pools
The easiest way to avoid a cheap-looking pool is, of course,
to avoid cheap materials.
While you might have to spend a little more to get a
nice-looking pool, you’ll also get one that lasts longer and offers you more
value in the long-run.
So, there you have it. Fiberglass pools, like any pools, can
look cheap if you’re not careful. If you know what to do, however, you can make
any pool look expensive and classy- perhaps even a lot more expensive than it
actually was!
