Pool equipment can be an
unsightly accent on what is otherwise a beautiful addition to any outdoor
space. Finding the ideal location for
your pump, filter, and sanitation system where it's not intrusive but still works
to maximum efficiency can be tough, and there a few guidelines that can prove
helpful.
The primary pool equipment, in
its entirety, takes up an area approximately 4x4. This only includes the pump, filter, and
sanitation system, such as a salt chlorinator.
An additional space located directly beside it will be needed for a
heater. Usually, the best spot is close
to the house and not too far away from the pool itself. Think of an inconspicuous place that doesn't
compete with your line of vision to the pool. Perhaps around a corner of a work
shed or of your home itself. This is
great, too, because you want to try and keep everything close to the control
panel as possible. Pool equipment is
frequently wired to the house panel box, which saves on wiring costs. If hiding it doesn't work, you can always
plant such shrubs and other outdoor foliage to attempt to camouflage it!
Something you would think to
consider is making sure you keep the equipment at the pool level or lower. Putting the filter system above the water
level puts undue stress on the pumps as they have to work harder to suction the
water. It’s also beneficial to keep the
equipment close to the pool for the same reason. Don’t want to have your pumps working
overtime if you can avoid it.
Pools are fun, so at the end of
the day, where you put your pool equipment isn't going to detract from that!
